Joan of arc (Jeanne d’arc) was a heroine of France but also a catholic saint. She was born as a peasant in eastern France. She was very religous and had strong dedacation after god told her to keep the english from defeating france. She led the French to victory over the 100 years war and coronated (ceremony of a crowning a king of queen) Charles VII. She was burned at the stake at age 19 after being kidnapped by the Burundians and sold to the English. She has been an important part of western culture.
She lived from 1412 to 1431 (only 19 years) but within her 19 years, she saved France from England, coronated Charles VII, and became a saint.
This is a picture of Joan of Arc being burned at the stake in England
She says that God told her to defend France so she did. She lead the battle at Orleans and won, that is said to be the turning point of the 100 year war. She was then kidnapped and sold to England. She was then killed. After her death. the pope found her not guilty and then coronized her. She is now a catholic saint.
This is a painting of Joan of Arc
She effects us today because she saved France from England and now is a saint to the calothic church. I think she shows us that if you follow the way of your religon, you can make things change. She also changed how men looked at women then. She showed that womwn can do the same things as men and sometimes even better. Before, men looked at women as maids that cleaned and cooked all day and not as people but Joan of Arc changed that. People think that Joanof Arc is not a heroine, but compleatly wrong for what she did. I strongly disagree, Joan of Arc saved France, Became a saint of the calothic church, and changed the life of women. That dosen"t look like she did anything bad, does it?
